Any day now you will be a big brother! Your mom is writing this a couple of days early just in case. We know you will be a wonderful big brother and will just love this little brother or sister to pieces! What a lucky family we are! But, until then, for another day or few days or a week, you are still our one and only baby! Hard to believe that in 3 months you will be 3!
So, at 2.75,
- You make the funniest tickling/grabbing/growling noises when we are playing and you want us to tickle you! You have such a cute way of getting our attention and you have the sweetest little laugh!
- You are very good at playing by yourself if I'm busy or if you just need a little alone time. This has been a nice thing for your tired, pregnant momma!
- You have the most amazing memory! We usually don't tell you if we are going out of town or doing something special because you think we are going to "go" right then and there. Instead, we tell you we're doing "something fun" and tell you the details later.
- You have memorized a few of your favorite books and it is so cute to see you "read" them to your baby doll and animals.
- You have perfected your colors. You love pointing them out in books, picking out your clothes, and while we are out and about.
- We recently had a nanny start. We are so happy you will be getting more 1:1 attention and staying away from all the germs at daycare (just to name a few reasons). You have taken the change in stride and seem to like Miss L a lot!
- You have had at least a few growth spurts in the past few months! Just when you finally could wear 2T pants (the waist finally fit), some of them are getting too short now in length! We know you've grown since you can now reach most of the light switches in the house!
- You seem to be more right hand dominant these days with throwing balls etc but seem to still be pretty ambidextrous when it comes to coloring and other fine motor activities.
- You have started stalling at night after your bath. It is pretty cute most nights as it involves extra kisses and hugs for your mom and dad. It is funny though since you don't think we know what you're up to!
- We have had so much fun getting ready for Christmas with you and letting you "help" with a lot of things you were too little for last year. So far we've put up the tree, decorated our house, made a few batches of cookies, and went looking at Christmas lights nearby. One of the newer things you have greatly enjoyed is opening Christmas cards. You love seeing pictures of family and friends and telling us what is on each card. One of my favorites was one of the first cards we got, a friend who has a 2 month old. We were looking at it and you said, "who's that?" I said, "that's baby M(name)". You looked puzzled for just a few seconds and responded "that's not my baby, my baby come in a little bit!". It was so precious and adorable!
Matthew, you are such a little bundle of energy, joy, and laughter. We love you so much and are so looking forward to celebrating Christmas with you and welcoming our new little one. Happy 2.75 to our wonderful little boy!
